Taiwan launches Intellectual Property High Court

Taiwan has passed laws recently to establish intellectual property high court (IPHC) which was scheduled to function in October 2007.
IPHC has the jurisdictions over both district and high court for litigation under civil laws for disputes over patent, trademark, copyright, CD protection, business secrecy, IC layout, plants, seeds, and fair trade matters. The civil courts at IPHC rule on cases mainly for remedies of infringements.
IPHC also comprises criminal high court for litigation under criminal laws for disputes over trademark, copyright, and fair trade matters. The criminal high courts at IPHC rule on cases mainly for penalties for offenses against laws.
IPHC also consolidates administrative high courts for litigation under administrative laws for disputes over patent, trademark, copyright, CD protection, IC layout, plants, seeds and fair trade matters. The administrative high courts at IPHC rule on cases mainly for appeal of administrative discretion including disciplinary action, invalidity, and rejection of application.
